Individualised Learning at Geneva Christian College: Analysis with PAT-M Data
At Geneva Christian College, we have partnered with Maths Pathway since 2017, in order to target each student at their point of need. Since then, teachers report improvement in student engagement and problem-solving, as well as increases in NAPLAN Numeracy and PAT Maths scores. In this analysis, we build on the work of Steinbergs & Smith (2024) which examined PAT Maths and Maths Pathway data in a Victorian school, finding positive associations between Maths Pathway usage and PAT Maths attainment and growth. We find that Geneva Christian College data shows similar patterns, with students attaining approximately 1.51 years’ growth per year as measured by PAT Maths. Maths Pathway has a minimum recommended dosage of 52 modules completed per year; we find that students who meet this threshold clearly outperform their peers on PAT Maths. These findings may be important for other schools aiming to lift outcomes, using a clear dosage target backed up by data.
