Sustainable Waste Management in Rural India: A Case Study of Yangang, Sikkim
Waste management is a critical aspect of sustainable development, particularly in rural areas lacking structured waste disposal systems. The research evaluates the feasibility of implementing sustainable practices by conducting a thorough evaluation of community and government responsibilities in the disposal of waste. Data was collected using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, such as interviews, observations, and secondary sources. The findings highlight issues such as inadequate infrastructure, low awareness, and incorrect garbage disposal. The recommendations include investing in infrastructure, improving education programmes, reinforcing regulations, and encouraging community engagement. Implementing these techniques is critical for tackling waste management issues in rural regions while also offering environmental and public health sustainability.
