Vallon de Nant glacier and tributary discharge and water quality data from summer and autumn 2023 (isotopic composition, electrical conductivity, water temperature, discharge)
This upload includes the original data from two master theses from the headwater catchment Vallon de Nant in the Vaud Alpes (Switzerland) focusing on glacier melt and tributary streamflow. The collected data refers to the sampling period of summer and autumn 2023 (June to October), including stable isotopic composition of water (and snow and ice), electrical conductivity, water temperature, streamflow discharge volumes and meteorological conditions. The data collection was mostly a collaboration of the two authors and should therefore be referred to as such. Additionally, both theses are available for more detailed information on sampling procedures, sensors descriptions and data processing. Martine Helfer's thesis focusses on tributary water contributions in the upper (southern) Vallon de Nant in terms of discharge quantity (salt dilution method) and water composition by means of stable isotopic composition of streamflow, electrical conductivity and water temperature monitored by the HOBO pendant temperature sensors. Anna Meier's thesis deals with the study of the outflow of the Glacier des Martinets, located in the southern basin of Vallon de Nant. A weather station and drainage station measure continuously: wind, temperature, rainfall, humidity, solar radiation, water temperature, electrical conductivity, drainage. These data are supplemented with continuous HOBO pendant temperature measurements and a few salt dilution discharge measurements and the isotope ratios of individual water samples. Following data files are available and contain measurements of various natural tracers, streamflow discharge and meteorological parameters: The "measuring_station.csv" file includes recordings from the installed meteorological weather station at LV95 2573713E, 1118375N from the end of July to the end of October 2023 (25.07.2023 to 19.10.2023). For a more detailed description of the sensors and calculated discharge consult the chapter "Data and Methods" form Anna Meier's thesis.
