A Geographical Analysis of the Incidence of Malaria in the Alipurduar District of West Bengal, India

Malaria incidence trends, demographic patterns, and gender disparities in Alipurduar district, West Bengal, India, are examined in this study. Data from the District Health Department for 2021 and 2022 were analyzed, revealing a notable spike in 2017 and a subsequent drop, the number of malaria cases stabilized at a much lower level in the later years. But, a rise in cases from 2021 to 2022, with peaks post-monsoon. Certain blocks, notably Kalchini, Kumargram, and APD-II, exhibited higher incidence rates. Adults aged 18-50 were disproportionately affected, and a higher incidence was observed among males. This study provides insights for targeted interventions to mitigate malaria's impact in the district.
