INTEGRATING VIRTUAL AND AUGMENTED REALITY IN UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES PILOTS TRAINING: ENHANCING SKILL ACQUISITION AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
The integration of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) pilots training has garnered considerable attention due to its potential to enhance skill acquisition and provide realistic simulations. These immersive technologies enhance situational awareness and reduce cognitive load by enabling trainees to engage with a range of flight conditions and scenarios that are challenging to replicate in the real world. The extant literature indicates that VR and AR training methodologies can yield superior outcomes in comparison to traditional approaches, promoting emotional engagement and deeper learning. Furthermore, the integration of AI and machine learning with VR and AR can facilitate the personalization of training experiences, thereby optimizing outcomes for UAV operators. Notwithstanding the obstacles posed by the necessity for sophisticated infrastructure and realistic simulations, the prospective advantages of VR and AR in UAVs pilots training are considerable, thus designating them as transformative instruments in UAV operations.
