Phytochemical Screening And GC-Ms Analysis Of Ocimum Sanctum, Amaranthus Viridis, And Cystone
In the field of pharmacology, medicinal plants have of great importance because of their therapeutic application which are natural, biocompatible, without any side effects with cost effective. The present study was carried out to study Phytochemical screening and GC-MS analysis of ethanolic extract of seeds of Ocimum sanctum (OS), Amaranthus viridis (AV) and Cystone (CS). Ocimum sanctum and Amaranthus viridis belongs to family Labiatae and Amaranthaceae respectively. Whereas Cystone is ayurvedic herbal formula made by Himalaya healthcare. Soxhlet extraction of grinded seeds was done by using absolute ethanol as a solvent. The extract was subjected to various photochemical protocols and GCMS analysis. The phytochemical screening of ethanolic extract of Seeds of Ocimum sanctum, Amaranthus viridis and Cystone revealed the presence of flavonoids, tannin, phenols, saponins, alkaloids, proteins, carbohydrate, terpenoids, and steroids. The GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of twenty-three , fifteen, and five bioactive compounds in OS, AV and CS respectively. The phytochemical and GC-MS profiling of ethanolic extract of OS, AV and CS revealed the presence of bioactive compounds with important medicinal properties.
