D1.9 58 Practice Abstracts

The MOVING (MOuntain Valorisation through INterconnectedness and Green Growth) main objective is to build capacities and co-develop relevant policy frameworks across Europe for the establishment of new, upgraded or upscaled value chains that contribute to the resilience and sustainability of mountain areas, using a bottom-up participatory process that involves value chain actors, stakeholders, and policymakers. MOVING key objectives include: Establishing a European-wide Community of Practice (CoP) on Mountain Value Chains (VCs) through regional Multi-actor Platforms (MaPs). Creating a conceptual and analytical framework to assess the diversity and impact of mountain VCs. Developing visual tools, such as maps and indicators, to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities in mountain regions. Mapping 400 VCs across the EU and conducting in-depth assessments in 23 reference regions to evaluate their sustainability and resilience. Conducting participatory benchmarking of mountain VC clusters to identify factors affecting their sustainability. Performing foresight exercises to anticipate long-term trends and co-create strategies for mountain areas. Developing a policy roadmap and 'Quick Start' policy design to guide future interventions that enhance connectivity, sustainability, and resilience in mountain regions. The current document, D1.9. 58 Practice Abstracts provides detailed information on the 23 mountain regions analysed in the project. For each region, two practice abstracts are presented: one highlighting the strengths of the main value chain and the other focusing on foresight analysis. Additionally, other practice abstracts cover the conceptual and analytical tools used throughout the project. All practice abstracts have been written in both English and the native language of each of the 23 mountain regions. They follow the template provided by EIP-AGRI and are crafted in laypeople's language, making them accessible to diverse audiences, especially practitioners.
