FROM PASSWORDS TO PRINTS: THE TRANSFORMATIVE JOURNEY OF BIOMETRICS IN DIGITAL TRANSACTIONS

A person is automatically verified using biometric features derived from their biological and behavioral traits. This process is known as biometric verification. Compared to traditional systems that use a card or password, abiometric verification system can reliably distinguish between an authorized person and an imposter. Peoplecould be recognized using biometrics based on who they are rather than what they have (such as an ID card) orwhat they know (password). ATMs, computers, security systems, mobile phones, credit cards, and health andsocial services currently use biometrics. An unimodal biometric system must deal with several issues, somultimodal biometrics is the way of the future in this field. This paper will present a survey of some unimodalbiometrics currently in use across various environments, those still in limited use, those still being developed, orthose still in the research stage.
