Snake bite in pet dogs and its management
Snake bites are a serious and potentially life- threatening emergency for dogs. Many dogs endure from agony, suffering, and even death when their canine companions are bitten by a snake's poisonous fangs every year. It's critical to comprehend the dangers, identify the signs, and know what to do in the event of a snake bite. Bruising or bleeding, drooling or foaming at the mouth, pain and swelling at the bite site, weakness or lethargy, tremors or convulsions, and vomiting are typical indications and symptoms. Snake venom can result in systemic problems such as renal failure, respiratory distress, and cardiac arrest if treatment is not received. Applying cold, a tourniquet, or sucking out the venom is not advised because these techniques are ineffectual and may even make the situation worse. The anti-snake venom (AVS) is the most potent counter-agent for snake venom. Pets have a good chance of surviving a snake bite if they receive prompt treatment following diagnosis.
