MOLECULAR DOCKING STUDIES OF QUERCETIN ACTING AS ANTI-AGING TREATMENT
The course of aging is a complicated, multipronged process, during which the quality of functioning drastically declines, ultimately becoming the leading cause of age-related ailments. Quercetin, a well-known polyphenolic component that can be found in fruits and vegetables, has lately under studies showed its anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer capabilities. The disclosure of the molecular structure at back of anti-aging effect of quercetin will rekindle the development of new therapies. Polyphenols exhibit antioxidant, anti- inflammatory, and anti-glycation activities, which contribute to their ability to mitigate age- related cellular damage and promote longevity. Furthermore, polyphenols modulate signaling pathways involved in cellular senescence, apoptosis, and DNA repair, highlighting their multifaceted roles in aging processes. This review explores the current understanding of polyphenols as anti-aging compounds, focusing on the receptors involved, mechanisms of action and chemical constituents. This study aims to elucidate the mechanisms through which polyphenols exert their anti-aging effects, employing molecular docking simulations to analyze their interactions with key molecular targets involved in aging processes such as oxidative stress, inflammation, and cellular senescence. With molecular docking simulations in this study, the objective is to show the mechanism of quercetin binding to the proteins that are associated with mechanisms of aging, including sirtuins (SIRT1 and SIRT6), and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and Nrf2.
