Impacts of Early Exposure to Digital Devices on Cognitive and Language Development in Children Aged 24 to 60 Months: A Narrative Review
This article presents a narrative review of the impacts of early exposure to digital devices, such as smartphones and tablets, on the cognitive and language development of children aged 24 to 60 months. The review critically examines contemporary research, highlighting both the potential benefits and the adverse effects associated with digital device usage in early childhood. While moderate use of digital devices may enhance certain cognitive skills, such as visuospatial coordination and problem-solving, excessive use is linked to language delays, attention difficulties, and other developmental risks. The article emphasizes the importance of balanced and supervised use of technology to support healthy child development and provides evidence-based recommendations for parents, educators, and healthcare professionals.
