Sposoby przedstawiania techne w sztuce współczesnej w perspektywie filozofii techniki
The article examines the representation of techne in contemporary art, focusing on how artworks assign meaning to technology – either by expressing fear of machines or by familiarizing art audiences with technological creations. The notion of “taming” is understood here as the reduction of fear associated with the incomprehensible or potentially dangerous. The article aims to identify how techne is portrayed in selected examples of contemporary art. The author distinguishes four modes of representation: instrumental, mythological, diagnosing threats, and adaptive. The analyzed works of art demonstrate that techne is an essential theme in artistic expression. Moreover, through art, the relationship between humans and technical devices – more broadly, the technological system – enters the sphere of public discourse. The article’s author treats artistic statements about technology as part of the cultural imaginarium. The analytical framework draws on concepts from the philosophy of culture and the philosophy of technology. The article employs hermeneutic methods to interpret technological artifacts and visual representations.
