Impact of geometrical and environmental parameters on wind action in telecommunication monopoles
This paper presents and discusses the results obtained in a parametric study to quantify the relative influence of the most important parameters used for the definition of wind action in telecommunication monopoles, such as the location of the structure and the geometric characteristics of the shaft, as well as the existence of ancillaries mounted on the structure, i.e. antennas, headframes, ladders, and/or feeders. Following their relative influence analysis, a global investigation on these parameters is also presented and discussed, as well as more specific subjects, e.g. the interference effect between antennas and headframes, the shield effect between the ladder and the shaft, and the block effect in feeders.
