LETTER ON THE USEFULNESS OF GLASS BY MIKHAIL LOMONOSOV: STRUCTURAL AND RHETORICAL ANALYSIS
The article is devoted to the linguostylistic analysis of M.V. Lomonosov's poem "Letter on the Usefulness of Glass", which combines two discourses - mythopoetic (artistic) and popular science (mining and geological). The poem "Letter on the Usefulness of Glass" is addressed to I.I. Shuvalov and is a didactic poem in its form, but in terms of content it is a treatise reflecting M.V. Lomonosov's scientific knowledge of natural processes, presented in a form accessible to the educated society of the mid-18th century. The main theme of the poem "Letter on the Usefulness of Glass" is the proof of the usefulness of glass and the description of its use in various spheres of human activity: everyday life, artistic and aesthetic, and scientific. The article also analyzes the artistic and expressive means (tropes and figures) used in the poem.
