The Internationalization of Teacher Education at the University of Potsdam and the Project “UP Network for Sustainable Teacher Education”

Although internationalization has long been part of the everyday business of German universities, it was, until a few years ago, largely neglected in teacher education. In a first step, the article reflects on reasons for this and argues for the value of internationalization in teacher education. In a second step, the development and focus of the internationalization strategy and measures at the University of Potsdam are presented and in this context the importance of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) project UP Network for Sustainable Teacher Education is elaborated. The article concludes with questions of which framework conditions are necessary for the successful continuation and sustainable anchoring of these measures.
