National Coral Reef Monitoring Program, Biological monitoring summary – U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico: 2023

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s National Coral Reef Monitoring Program (NCRMP) conducts biological sampling for fish populations and communities, coral populations, and benthic communities every year, alternating between Florida/Flower Garden Banks and the U.S. Caribbean. In 2023, NCRMP surveys of the U.S. Virgin Islands shallow water (≤ 30 m) coral reefs occurred in June and August, and in Puerto Rico from June until November.
