The article reflects on the MOSE system, a series of mobile barriers protecting Venice, which redefines the relationship between technology, the city, and the lagoon environment. By drawing together cinema practice, collective memory, and climate change, the article explores MOSE as a pharmakon: a technological solution and a media device, invisible in daily life but essential to preventing floods. The combination of film narrative and urban ethnography offer a way to examine the city's experience in the era of artificial protection.
