Determination of maximal RF exposure to 5G massive MIMO base stations under non-line-of-sight conditions: part 2 : verification by field measurements

For determining maximum exposure to 5G massive MIMO base stations, measurement and extrapolation methods already exist. However, misestimations of the maximum exposure were found for measurement points without line-of-sight (NLOS) to the base station. Based on preliminary considerations in part 1 of this paper, the exposure at eleven NLOS measurement points was determined. The antenna gain correction factors based on the radiation patterns of the antenna were compared with the actual gain correction factors derived from the measurements with multipath propagation conditions. It is shown that the resulting misestimation of the maximum exposure occurs, when the measurement point is not in the coverage areas of both SSB and traffic beams.
