The Effectiveness of Educational Intervention "Be yourself" on Negative Beliefs, Self-Acceptance, Self-Expression and Self-Esteem of 15-18-year-old Adolescents with Self-Criticism
The aim of the study was the effectiveness of the Be-Yourself educational intervention on negative beliefs, self-acceptance, self-expression, and self-esteem of self-criticism adolescents. The research method was a quasi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test, and 45-day follow-up with a control group. The statistical population included 15-18 year-old self-critical adolescents in Isfahan in 2023. 40 people were selected from among the adolescents by cluster random sampling method, considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and were randomly assigned equally to two experimental and control groups. The research tools were questionnaires on negative beliefs, self-assertion, and self-esteem, and the Skin intervention, which the experimental group received in 12 sessions of 60-minute once a week. The data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The results showed that the Be-Yourself educational intervention had a significant effect on negative beliefs, self-acceptance, self-expression, and self-esteem of self-criticism adolescents, and its effects remained in the follow-up phase. Therefore, it can be concluded that the mindfulness acquired in the Be-Yourself educational intervention helps adolescents to reject intrusive thoughts and not cling to their own beliefs. Accordingly, it is suggested that this intervention be used to reduce and improve psychological problems in adolescents.
