Concrete Canoe; Sustainable Concrete Technology Adoption

With all the concrete one sees in everyday life, knowing that it is a significant contributor to global carbon emission does not get any easier. This prompts one to consider the need for innovative solutions to enhance sustainability. This research paper investigates the adoption of sustainable concrete technologies while addressing the question: How do existing sociotechnical systems facilitate or hinder the adoption of sustainable concrete technologies? In this report, the Social Construction of Technology (SCOT) framework will be used to examine how stakeholders, affect innovative concrete materials. Through literature reviews and case study analyses, this study explores material performance and regulatory challenges that impact the widespread use of sustainable concrete. Assessing as well the environmental, economic, and social impacts of these technologies on concrete production and lifecycle. By identifying key barriers and strategies for overcoming them, this study aims to contribute to the future integration of sustainable materials, reducing the environmental footprint of construction.
