The Place of the Ideal Female Nude in the Art of the 21st Century: A Personal Reflection
In this very brief essay the author imposes upon himself the task of adding something to the already voluminous literature on the nude in art -- and all which that implies; but it is his hope that, in also attempting to factor in the unique cultural circumstances of the 21st century, a new perspective might become evident. In attempting, as well, to invest his essay with a personal perspective -- and as a heterosexual male -- he focuses herein on the female nude, and as counter-balanced by his 2015 position paper, "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot: Kinetic Sculpture and the Crisis of Western Technocentrism", and which has as its artistic focus the famous 5th-century Greek "Kritios Boy".
