A Systematic Review of Behavioural, Self-Management Interventions Targeting Loneliness and Perceived Social Isolation from Adolescence to Early-Adulthood.
Loneliness, a subjective feeling of social isolation, is a significant public health concern impacting individuals and society. It is associated with negative health outcomes, including increased risk of cardiovascular disease and cognitive deficits. Self-management interventions, which empower individuals to proactively manage their mental health, are particularly relevant for individuals at clinical high risk of psychosis due to the fluctuating nature of symptoms and the need for early intervention. An updated systematic review is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of behavioural, self-management interventions for reducing loneliness in individuals aged 12-35. The review will focus on populations at risk for psychosis and synthesise findings to identify effective intervention components.
