Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinators: Assessment of Roles and Needs
This study examined the goals, responsibilities, and challenges of Department of Transportation statewide bicycle and pedestrian coordinators. The research team used mixed methods to learn about the main challenges that coordinators face, how they utilize Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center support, how their experiences differ based on organizational structure and other factors, and how they approach collaboration. The findings of this study can be used to better understand the current state of statewide active transportation planning, and what kind of support will be useful to bicycle and pedestrian coordinators in the future.
