Assessment of Quality of Life in Patients Undergoing Orthognathic Surgery Using Validated Self-Reported Scales.

This scoping review aims to assess post-orthognathic surgery patients' quality of life using validated self-reported scales in observational studies and clinical trials. Eligible studies include patients undergoing orthognathic surgery in surgical or oral/maxillofacial clinics, following surgery recommendations in clinical trials/observational studies, and using validated self-reported scales for quality of life. Exclusion criteria consist of pacients with pre-existing cognitive issues, preoperative inflammation/infection symptoms, or systemic chronic diseases. Data sources include various databases such as MEDLINE (PubMed), Livivo, LILACS and Scopus to identify articles on the topic. Date: from 12/07/2025 with an update on 05/08/2025. No language or publication period restrictions. Two independent researchers will apply eligibility criteria and select studies for inclusion in the scoping review, with a third specialist resolving discrepancies. Data extraction and review will also be conducted by two independent researchers, which will then be analyzed by the third expert researcher in scoping reviews to resolve any potential divergences. Data will be tabulated in an Excel spreadsheet; no specific software will be used for data extraction and management. Keywords: Quality of Life; Orthognathic Surgery; Scope Review.
