This project aims to develop a context-specific tool to guide the implementation and evaluation of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programs in African hospitals. Antimicrobial resistance is a critical problem, especially in resource-constrained settings, and existing AMS guidance often lacks the necessary detail for effective implementation in these contexts. This tool will address this gap by providing a practical and locally responsive framework to support African hospitals in establishing, maintaining, and improving their AMS programs, complementing existing WHO resources.

Abstract

This project aims to develop a context-specific tool to guide the implementation and evaluation of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programs in African hospitals. Antimicrobial resistance is a critical problem, especially in resource-constrained settings, and existing AMS guidance often lacks the necessary detail for effective implementation in these contexts. This tool will address this gap by providing a practical and locally responsive framework to support African hospitals in establishing, maintaining, and improving their AMS programs, complementing existing WHO resources.
