Mapping the Implementation of Adult Psychiatric Home Hospitalisation Services: A Scoping Review Protocol
This scoping review will explore how adult Psychiatric Home Hospitalisation (PHH) services are implemented across different international contexts. PHH, also known as Intensive Home Treatment, is recognised as a substitute for acute psychiatric admission. However, the ways in which these services are designed, delivered, and integrated remain highly variable and under-documented. To capture this diversity and better understand the implementation determinants, the review will apply the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR 2.0). The review will include documents from 2000 onwards describing the implementation of PHH models targeting adults (18+) in acute psychiatric crisis, across any care setting where home-based alternatives to hospitalisation are employed.
