Examining the Associations between Curiosity, Political Extremism, and Conspiracy Beliefs
This preregistration is one of two pre-registrations that are part of a study on individual differences in curiosity. The other pre-registration investigates the relationship between curiosity and attentional control (https://osf.io/cuygz/). This current preregistration aims to investigate the relationship between political extremism, trait curiosity, attentional control, and other attitudes and values (including tendency to believe in conspiracy theories, dogmatism, and right-wing authoritarianism). It is hypothesised that individuals who are on the political extreme will have lower levels of trait curiosity, lower cognitive flexibility, and be more likely to believe in conspiracy theories.
