THE ROLE OF SOCIAL INTERACTION IN THE FORMATION OF SOCIAL GROUPS IN MODERN SOCIETY
This study discusses the role of social interaction in the formation of social groups in modern society. Social interaction is a basic process that is the foundation for the formation of relationships between individuals and groups in community life. Along with the development of communication technology, the form of social interaction has shifted from direct interaction to interaction through social media and digital platforms. Through ongoing social interaction, individuals with similar interests, goals, or values will form social groups that have emotional ties and solidarity. This study also highlights the role of social media as a strategic space for the formation of various virtual communities that can influence public opinion and popular culture. In addition, the characteristics of modern society such as high social mobility, rational mindset, and open social systems also form more dynamic and flexible social interaction patterns. The results of the study show that even though there are changes in the way of interacting, the social function of interaction remains crucial in building group identity, solidarity, and maintaining harmony amidst the complexity of modern society.
