The Two Stages of the AI Revolution_ Digital Intelligence to Physical Embodiment — and Why There’s No Third Stage
This paper explores the contemporary and anticipated stages of the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution. The first stage is characterized by AI embedded in electronic devices—smartphones, computers, and cloud-based systems—while the second stage envisions AI taking physical form as autonomous robots and embodied agents. The central argument is that these two stages are sufficient to constitute the full scope of the AI revolution, with no fundamentally new "third stage" required. The discussion draws on current research, societal impacts, and expert perspectives to evaluate whether future advances will represent new revolutions or merely extensions of the existing paradigm.
