Evaluating Behavioral Medicine Approaches for Improving Body Image and Self-Acceptance in 2SLGBTQ+ and Gender-Diverse Individuals Living with HIV/AIDS: A Scoping Review and Call to Action
This scoping review maps behavioral medicine interventions—such as CBT, mindfulness, and narrative therapy—that aim to enhance body appreciation and self-acceptance among people living with HIV/AIDS, with a focus on LGBTQ+ and gender-diverse populations. Guided by the Biopsychosocial Model, Intersectionality, and the Health at Every Size framework, the review identifies which interventions have been studied, who they target, and what outcomes are reported. It synthesizes literature across disciplines to highlight gaps and inform equity-driven, affirming health strategies.
