BRSBI23 NMJ morphology Older

The dataset contains z-stack images of neuromuscular junctions stained in biopsy samples from older male participants who underwent a 10-day bed rest period. BDC=before bed rest. BR10=after 10 days of bedrest. For instance, E5_BR10_10 means that this NMJ image belongs to participant E5 after 10 days of bedrest, and it is the 10th NMJ we captured in this participant. Images were captured using a ZEISS LSM 900 confocal microscope equipped with an Airyscan 2 detector. The z-stacks were imaged in 3 channels: channel 1 is the presynaptic terminal of the NMJ (synaptic vesicles), channel 2 is the postsynaptic terminal of the NMJ (acetylcholine receptors), channel 3 is the axon (neurofilament heavy polypeptide). The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowaka-Curie grant agreement no 101034319 and from the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
