Abandoning AI is abandoning students
As universities continue to debate the role of generative AI in education, one thing is clear: abandoning AI is abandoning students. This post argues that AI is not a threat to academic integrity but a vital tool for accessibility, equity, and preparing scholars to engage with the real-world of impact outside of the academy. Drawing on personal experience and recent data, this post explores how AI can transform teaching, learning, and assessment – and why faculty resistance largely reflects deeper systemic exclusion. If higher education is to remain relevant and a beacon of service to the community, it must evolve. And that evolution must center the needs of learners.
