Data mining applications in pharmacovigilance databases: A scoping review
This scoping review aims to map the data mining algorithms described in the literature that assist in detecting, analyzing, identifying, or predicting adverse drug reactions in pharmacovigilance databases. The review seeks to address the research question: "What data mining algorithms have been described to support pharmacovigilance efforts in the detection and analysis of adverse drug reactions?" Searches will be conducted in databases such as PubMed, Scopus, IEEE, Web of Science, and other gray literature sources. Articles will be selected based on inclusion criteria and will be evaluated and organized in a qualitative synthesis. The review is expected to contribute to advances in pharmacovigilance by identifying key methodologies, highlighting gaps in the literature, and encouraging further research and applications of data mining techniques in drug safety monitoring.
