FAMILY - Falls Prevention for Rural CommunIty-dwelling elderly in China
The FAMILY trial is an open-label, large-scale, pragmatic, cluster-randomized controlled trial, conducted in 128 rural villages from eight counties, across four Chinese provinces (Heilongjiang, Shanxi, Hubei, Guangdong). Participants in the intervention group will take part in group exercises, home exercises, and quarterly health education sessions. The primary outcome is the proportion of people who fall at least once in the past 12 months post-randomization. Secondary outcomes include the rate of falls, functional mobility, the proportion of people who have fall-induced injury in the past 12 months and health-related quality of life.
