The impact on the quality of life of families of ageds with dementia included in care through actions of health professionals: an integrative review
It is increasingly ecognized that living with dementia is a family issue, with significant practical and emotional impacts on both individual and family life (Santos et al. 2020). Conversely, the way in which the family faces the onset and progression of dementia influences the quality of life of the entire group, including the elderly person ( Salazar-Barajas et al., 2019). This context invites healthcare professionals to include the family as part of the care unit. Many professionals recognize the importance of involving the family in care (Costa, Santos e Oliveira, 2020), however, it is still unclear what types of interventions are being practiced and researched, and what the results are on the quality of life of the entire family group. The objective of this review is to analyze what has already been proposed in the literature regarding the impact on the quality of life of families of people with dementia in relation to the actions of healthcare professionals to include families in care.
