Acquisition of auxiliary selection in French and Italian and the role of input
This study focuses on child acquisition of perfective auxiliaries in French and Italian by analysing auxiliary productions in naturalistic corpora from CHILDES (N = 18 for French, N = 9 for Italian) and considering the role of input. We analyse auxiliary productions for be-selecting intransitives, have-selecting intransitives and reflexives in both languages, looking at child speech and parental speech as a representation of input. This considers different error types (3sg extensions of be vs. true auxiliary selection errors).
