The performance of social workers in the SUS is supported by legislation such as Ordinance MS No. 400/2009, which establishes the obligation of this professional in the SASPO teams. However, there are gaps regarding the clear definition of their attributions and the effectiveness of their functions according to the parameters of the Ethical-Political Project of the profession. The presence of this professional is crucial to promote the articulation of the social assistance network, guarantee social rights and strengthen the user's protagonism
