Feasibility and Acceptability of Shared Digital Communication Between Caregivers of Children with Physical Disabilities and Professionals: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study

This study protocol outlines the exploration of the feasibility and acceptability of shared digital communication in a simple messenger-like tool, to improve communication and coordination between caregivers of children with physical disabilities and professionals from the health, social, and educational systems. A mixed-methods study design will be used, gathering both quantitative and qualitative data concurrently and integrating them in joint displays to enhance interpretation, transparency, and richness of findings. Conducting pilot studies to assess the feasibility and acceptability of an intervention is essential before progressing to an effectiveness study, as this may ensure recruitment processes and the collection of meaningful evidence. The integrated findings from this study will contribute to refining the use of shared digital communication within the messenger-like tool and provide valuable insights to inform a future large-scale effectiveness study.
