MODELING AND SIMULATION OF QUARTER CAR MODEL WITH ACTIVE SUSPENSION SYSTEM WITH LINEAR ELECTRIC ACTUATOR USING LQR CONTROL STRATEGY
This study presents the modeling and simulation of a quarter-car suspension system integrated with an active control mechanism using a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) strategy. The system dynamics were formulated through a state-space representation, capturing both the sprung and unsprung mass responses under road disturbances. MATLAB/Simulink was utilized to simulate the vehicle dynamics and implement the LQR control algorithm, aiming to enhance ride comfort and handling performance by actively minimizing body acceleration and suspension deflection. A linear electric actuator was considered in the simulation as the active control element.
