Associations between maternal Social Determinants of Health and fetal stress-related biomarkers: Evidence from umbilical cord blood measurements. A scoping review

The influence of Social Determinants of Health (SDH) on health and disease risk is well recognized. Already before birth, the mother’s SDH can affect the development of her child. Although research has explored the impact of SDH on different child development outcomes, we lack synthesis on the associations between maternal SDH and fetal stress-related umbilical cord blood biomarkers. We plan, therefore, a scoping review to map the literature on these associations and identify research trends and knowledge gaps.
