Increasing Inclusive Instruction: Building a Bespoke In-house Teacher Training Programme at the University of Cambridge
Increasing numbers of librarians are being asked to take on teaching roles but this is often done with little targeted instruction. Teaching education programmes do exist but these are often targeted at academics and fail to cover important elements of library teaching such as the one-shot session. This chapter explores the creation of an in-house Teaching and Learning for Librarians course aimed at academic librarians teaching at universities. It covers the development of the course, changes made during the pandemic online pivot and lessons learnt. It aims to provide instructions to others looking to establish similar programmes in their own institution.
