Correlates of physical activity in parents: a quantitative systematic review
This describes a quantitative systematic review which aims to identify correlates of physical activity in parents of children aged 0-18 years. Physical activity is important for physical and mental health, yet parents often engage in less physical activity than their childless counterparts. In order to develop effective interventions to increase physical activity, it is therefore important to understand what factors are associated with self-report and device measured physical activity in this population sub-group. The results of this review can be used to inform effective intervention planning and facilitate the development of strategies that promote physical activity within families. It may also guide public health policy development and programme implementation.
