Family nurse interventions with people with type 2 diabetes in distresse: Scoping review protocol
Introduction: Diabetes-related distress is defined as a state of emotional, relational, and behavioral suffering associated with living with and self-managing the condition and its potential complications. The family nurse is a valuable resource who can support individuals with type 2 diabetes and their families in facing this challenge. Objectives: To map the available evidence on family nurse interventions with individuals with type 2 diabetes experiencing distresse. Methodology: Scoping review protocol following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology (2024). The research strategy is structured in three phases, guided by the definition of population, concept, and context. It includes all types of sources, with no language restrictions, open access, and no publication date limits. Presentation and Discussion of Results: The findings, aligned with the review question, will be presented in the form of a narrative summary, supported, when relevant, by tables and diagrams developed based on the PRISMA framework (Page et al., 2021; Tricco et al., 2018). Conclusions: Mapping the available evidence on family nurse interventions with individuals living with type 2 diabetes experiencing distress is essential for promoting self-management of the condition and encouraging helpful family involvement in this process. Keywords: People with type 2 diabetes, family, family nurse, diabetes-related distress, primary health care.
