Adaptation and Validation of the Global Psychotrauma Screen for Teens into an Indonesian Version

Given the high number of traumatic events that occur in Indonesia, the limited availability of reliable and validated trauma-related instruments, and its potential for implementation in a variety of settings (primary care, clinical practice, and post-disaster), there is an urgent need for a brief instrument screening for trauma-related symptoms among the Indonesian population, particularly among adolescents. The Global Psychotrauma Screen (GPS) is a promising tool for addressing these needs (Olff, Bakker, & Global Collaboration Team, 2020). The GPS is a brief screening tool that includes 22 items (17 symptom items and five risk/protective factor items) with a binary (yes-no) answer scale. It is designed to check for a wide variety of trauma-related symptoms as well as risk/protective factors. The purpose of this study is to conduct an initial validation of the Indonesian GPS on a sample of Indonesian adolescents.

It is designed to check for a wide variety of trauma-related symptoms as well as risk/protective factors. The purpose of this study is to conduct an initial validation of the Indonesian GPS on a sample of Indonesian adolescents.
