Did I see it before? The role of eye movements in repeated visual search.
This study analyzes performance in a repeated visual search task. In each trial a letter was presented, followed by the search display (same in all trials). Target order was manipulated, so that one of the targets appeared early in the sequence for one group (experiment 1) and late for the other (experiment 2). Results showed that previous incidental fixations on that item did not facilitate search. However, oculomotor measures did provide interesting information regarding changes in visual search strategies over trials.
