PRISMA Registration for Pharmacological Applications of Electrospun Nanofibers Loaded with Bioactive Natural Compounds and Extracts: A Systematic Review

This systematic review explores the use of electrospinning to incorporate natural bioactive compounds into nanofibers for pharmacological applications. The study analyzes the benefits, challenges, and future potential of this technique, particularly in tissue regeneration, infection prevention, and controlled drug delivery. A systematic search of five major databases was conducted, following PRISMA guidelines, to identify relevant studies published between 2013 and 2023. Among 2391 articles screened, 99 met the inclusion criteria, highlighting the effectiveness of electrospun fibers in biomedical and cosmetic applications. The findings emphasize the need for further exploration of marine-derived compounds and interdisciplinary collaboration to expand the potential of electrospinning in pharmacology .
