Un viaggio per conoscere il nostro pianeta tra aria, acqua, terra e fuoco: una selezione di articoli dal blog INGVambiente

In recent decades, environmental issues and concerns have become increasingly central to global discussions. Governments, national and international organizations, research institutions and citizens worldwide are engaged in formulating sustainable solutions for our planet. In this context, scientific communication and public participation have acquired a fundamental role. In order to bring the general public closer to the environmental research conducted by INGV, the INGVambiente blog was launched in 2018. Its aim is to narrate the research, challenges, successes, and projects that researchers, technicians, and technologists face and advance every day. Our blog aims to make the complex dynamics of a number of natural phenomena, topics of our studies, comprehensible and engaging. Each article not only disseminates scientific knowledge but also stimulates debate and active participation from citizens. We also utilize INGVambiente's social media platforms to reach a broader and more diverse audience. The participative structure of the blog and social media allows readers to interact directly with the authors, creating a dialogue on topics such as climate change, pollution, renewable energy, and the physical phenomena that allow life on our planet and that tell its history and evolution. Through comments, discussions and sharing, INGVambiente's communication channels have, over the years, become a true laboratory of ideas, where every voice can contribute to a broader global debate. The blog, in particular, and the social media communication platforms, in general, ambitiously aim to offer a bridge between the scientific world and society. This allows researchers and scientists to communicate their work results directly and clearly. This continuous exchange of information and opinions is essential today for building a shared and broader scientific culture, also to contrast misinformation and the widespread fake news, often created solely to gain online visibility. This volume collects some of the contributions published on the blog of our institute's Environment Department. With this publication, we aim to provide an overview of the topics covered by our research, hoping to contribute to building a more aware and sustainable world.
