Abstract

Healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) pose a significant\nglobal\nhealth challenge, exacerbated by the rising threat of antimicrobial\nresistance (AMR). This study introduces a high-throughput platform\ndesigned to identify sustainable antibacterial surfaces, exemplified\nby a copper–silver–zirconium (CuAgZr) alloy library.\nUtilizing combinatorial synthesis and advanced characterization techniques,\nmaterial libraries (MatLibs) are generated and evaluated to rapidly\nscreen diverse alloy compositions. The results demonstrate the ability\nto reproducibly create alloys with significant antimicrobial properties\nand high hardness, making them suitable for biomedical applications.\nThe study highlights the critical role of compositional precision\nin developing materials that balance mechanical strength with antibacterial\nefficacy. Additionally, this approach ensures significant cost-effectiveness,\nfacilitating the identification of economically viable alloy compositions.\nThis research underscores the potential of high-throughput materials\nscience to expedite the discovery of sustainable solutions for reducing\nHCAIs and addressing AMR, signaling a leap forward in sustainable\nhealthcare material development.
