Abstract

We developed performant in situ hypohalite, especially\nhypobromite,\ncatalysis for the oxidative dearomatization of low-reactivity electron-deficient\narenols. The reaction scope encompasses inter- and intramolecular\noxidative dearomative C–O, C–N, and C–C coupling\nreactions. Notably, using a chiral ammonium countercation, we achieved\nenantioselective hypobromite catalysis for oxidative dearomative coupling\nreactions. Mechanistic studies revealed that the reaction mechanisms\nmight differ depending on the halide identity.
