Polyethylene Glycol–Enzyme Nanocomplexes as\nCarrier-free Biocatalyst for Pickering Interfacial Catalysis
PEG-enzyme\nnanocomplexes are prepared and stabilized in an oil-in-water-type\nemulsion for Pickering interfacial biocatalysis, and these nanocomplexes\nfunction as catalysts and emulsifiers at the emulsion interface. The\nnanocomplexes are self-assembled by cross-linking mPEG-ALD with lipase,\nwithout complicated synthesis steps, toxic chemical reagents, and\nexternal carriers. Moreover, the mild cross-linking process preserves\nthe original structure of the enzyme, the retention rate of enzyme\nactivity is 82.1%, and the nanocomplexes are used to emulsify biphasic\naqueous–organic solution into Pickering emulsion. The system\nexhibits excellent reusability, with enzyme activity remaining at\n86.05% after five cycles, providing a desirable eco-friendly platform\nfor carrier-free Pickering interfacial biocatalysis.
